Humanizing Public Housing

Through its arts and culture programming, the Seattle Housing Authority’s revitalization of Yesler Terrace has helped residents strengthen connections, preserve their culture, and amplify their voices amidst significant changes. The arts programs at Yesler aim to highlight and enhance these benefits by focusing on resident engagement, cultural preservation, and the celebration of authentic traditions and narratives. The report illustrates how art fosters community by providing opportunities for residents to socialize and connect in new ways. This is visually represented through photographs from various community events and creative use of layouts and typography, which break up what would otherwise be a text-heavy report.
